EMERGENCY EVACUATION GUIDELINES – 2025
In the event of an emergency (such as fire, or other circumstances causing personal danger)
A signal (such as a whistle or siren) will be sounded with a continuous tone by the Field Captain or Director of Shooting and the emergency relayed via two-way radios to officials (if it occurs during a tournament).
At the first sign of an emergency, Emergency Services will be called via 000 for assistance and portable spray packs deployed (if any fire is small and manageable).
All personnel on the premises (“premises” includes the entire leased area) will immediately cease the activity they are engaged in and return directly to the Clubhouse to await further instruction.
Where an extended course is being employed (e.g. for special events, such as Masters Games) all personnel on the course extension are to make their way to the Marion Riding Club area and report to a Club Official. The Official will record the people’s names and report via mobile phone to the Clubhouse to help account for all participants.
If circumstances require, the orderly departure of all personnel from the Clubhouse area via the access road (Viaduct Track) to the main gate (Gate 1, as the assembly point) will be directed by a responsible person, who will also have the list of personnel for checking. (Care will be required when departing, as Emergency Vehicles may be approaching from Gate 1).
The last person leaving the Clubhouse shall confirm the course and buildings have been vacated, and secure the Clubhouse.
If circumstances prevent exit via the access road (Viaduct Track): personnel on the premises will move into the Clubhouse, shut the doors and secure the shutters. A head count will be taken and all personnel accounted for the Club’s generator will not be operated during this time. Mobile phones will be used, if possible, to maintain contact and information throughout any emergency. A battery powered radio should also be available to assist with learning about any updates to the situation.
Once the danger has passed (as assessed by Emergency Services), personnel may be permitted to return to resume their activities &/or collect their belongings.
